Well decided i couldn`t wait until tomorrow so i went back out to the shop and wala. Found the first problem. I had installed a used positive battery cable to get me by the other day and evidently it is junk. I had done bought a new one but hadn`t installed it yet. Now have power to the starter and the headlights and turn signals now work. The starter still doesn`t work through the key, but will kick over when you jump across the solenoid. It has no power coming in under the dash from the solenoid. I`ll have another go at it in the morning.

The ignition switch gets it's power on the black wire and the starter solenoid is energized by the violet wire when the key is in the start position. The violet wire goes to the S terminal on the starter through the neutral safety switch if it's automatic.
The red wire on the ignition switch supplies power to the fuse block which supplies power to the lights, ect. Since the lights are working the ignition switch should be getting power.

Well guys one problem is/was no fuse for the ignition switch. Took care of that but still no go. I believe now it is the neutral safety switch, or the fact it isn`t installed yet. DUH. I`ll find out in the morning.

Terry, sounds like you just needed a slight distraction posting on the forums to clear the mind, then back at it again! Good to hear you're on the right track.

Hey Terry, Im sure it's that neutral safety switch. When I did my AAW harness, I forgot that too. Drove me nuts for an hour or so! You should be able to just tie those purple wires together till you get a switch installed. If all is wired right, she'll fire! Good Luck! Phil...

Yep, the neutral saftey switch was holding me up as well, once I jumped those together,,Vuwala!!,,it turned over. Had to explain to pop's several times to be careful,,the car will start in any gear. I still need to fix that and make it function properly with the B&M shifter.

Hey Terry you should be driving a 4,5 or 6 speed then you wouldn't have to worry about that switch HA,HA. Hope you had a good Christmas:). Hey I will be rewiring mine and I am sure I will have some problems. Just took out all my wiring the other day.

Well the latest fun update. IT IS CRANKING NOW. Yes it was the neutral safety switch wires. I still have no power to the Dakota digital gauges so that will be one of the next headaches to fix. I have done some wiring this a.m. on the taillights.

Chuck it should be in mine but all i find says run a 12v wire to it. E-mail it to me if it isn`t too much trouble. Thanks Terry

Teryy. I had a bit of a stumble with my gauges also. There are two sets of grounding wires. Once I had it all grounded they all worked. Good luck:tu
