I'm building a blown big-block for my 55 and was curious to know if you're supposed to run a mechanical advance distributor or vacuum? I've heard that the supercharger will not allow the vacuum advance style to operate correctly because of the difference in manifold air pressure of a normally aspirated engine vs. forced induction. Any info would be greatly appreciated. BTW--I will be running a boost timing master ignition system.

This one works good, a friend of mine is using it on his blown small block along with the 6BTM box.

Another option that also works good with the 6BTM box:

Thanks for the reply Keith. I guess I was right in respect of vacuum advance vs. mechanical. A friend was thinking of selling me his MSD distributor at a good friend price but looks like I'll have to pass on this one. Thanks again.

I was surfing Craigslist last night and found a guy with a new-in-the-box MSD Probillet distributor for small/big chevy, part #85551, phone 707.712.5384
