55 body colors

I'm redoing a 55 belair post car and the owner wants it to be black and white like it was. Looking at the original colors on the Tri5 site shows the white to be India Ivory. That shade of white seems to be not as bright a color as was on it.

I wanted your opinions as to the color combo for a car like this. I guess I should have had the color shot with a digital color gun before I striped it, but it didn't seem like an issue then.

Also..would the body color be on the firewall or would that be a satin black . What about the fender wells under the hood? Body color or satin black?

I`d say let the owner look at the color charts and pick the white he wants if it wasn`t originally white. The fire wall should be body color i believe. Fenderwells should be black. Terry.

India Ivory and Onyx Black are the correct 1955 colors. I will be doing my '56 in those same colors and I would not be happy if the white wasn't India Ivory.

That said, I agree that the owner should decide what shade.

The firewall and body are the same color (black) as are the dash and window trim.
Also, in '55 the two door sedan might have only had the roof painted white and yet some sedans and the two door hard tops had the upper rear quarter, trunk, trunk lid and roof all painted white.

This 55 had the trunk and quarters white also. The owner is leaning away from the India Ivory for something brighter. If anyone has a pi c of a tri5 with black and india ivory let me know.

Thanks for the heads up on the firewall color, we were debateing that just a few minute before this writing. He also wants body color on the bottom side of the hood...what do you all think?

I`ve seen many with the underside of hood painted body color and it looks good. Almost wish i`d painted mine body color,Terry.

Where at on the tri5 site did you find the color codes?
