I know I'm new to the site but wanted to give you all some smile's if possible. The love affair I'm having with the 55, (known as "the other woman" by my wife of 14 year's) started when I was old enough to realize what a real special car was as I browsed through my Dad's old picture's. He had one in 63 in Wynot, Nebraska. Not making that name up, N/E Neb, near Hartington and Yankton SD. His was solid sea foam green with baby moon's, the center hood emblem shaved, as well as the trunk trim, and a nasty 283 small block. Say's he outran everything that pulled up against him till the Big Big motor's came to town. Anyway, the stories he told, and still talk's about to this day, inspired me, and have stayed with me all my comprehending life. So, for Father's day a couple year's back I made a wall hanging for him, the attachment if it come's through, all freehand airbrush work on an old dryer door I cut down and folded the end's on. Couldn't find the metal I wanted anywhere so I came up with my own. About 45 hour's later I had a tribute to his car, the one in the upper left, and one the way I would build underneath it. Titled "Like Father Like Son". Now the color's have changed a bit on the plan, the wheel's are going to be Torque Thrust style, but as of yet I haven't told him about getting the 55. Don't want to let him know till I pull into the driveway with the 'ol girl. Then, his memories and mine will alway's have a very special car we can alway's tell stories about.

The name referred to by your wife is kinda like my wifes remark. She calls mine "the girlfriend".

Just can't say enough about the women who stay with us through everything including the 'ol car's we love

My wife simply refers to it as that 'old car' but never complains and even says I can get another one as soon as I can find room for it!

Thanks for the great story. I am 51 years old and just got started in this hobby last year, no family history, no personal history with tri-fives, but a forever love of these cars and the non-stop nagging feeling to get one -- finally broke down and now I have something I should've had many years ago. I envy you guys with the 'histories' and the fond memories, especially when they involve good ol' dad!

Great story. I hope the "plan" makes your dad happy... I know it will. You did a real nice job on the airbrush. Heck... I'd just be happy with that!

Thank you for the complement's 56nomad, I'm pretty sure he'll be happy with the 55 too, although a bit overwhelmed at first maybe. Gonna be a great day when she roll's into his drive!!
