Just an informational and update. Not long ago I got the cowl extensions off my 56 and uncovered a rats nest! The cowl had been full of leaves and weeds for so long that the sheet metal on the kick panel and the lower door hinge mount area were TERRIBLE/nonexistent. When I removed the front driver door I couldn't even get the bolts removed because the mount itself was just spinning rust. Therefore, I had no template to even fabricate (or attempt to fab is more like it) a replacement. Pass. side wasn't much better. So, I had seen a post by MP&C where he had just done this exact procedure. I thought I would get some advise from him. The advise was probably as good as I could have gotten. He said: You have got a real mess there..:) Then went on to suggest that I try to find a donor car. This weekend I was able to do just that. I contacted a fellow that lives about 200miles from me that was parting out a 56 4 door (my car) and all he had left was the "entire cowl". Lucky for me I found it when I did because he was getting ready to chop it up and send it to the landfill!!! He said he couldn't scrap it because of the cowl tag being on it and he had no title. He told me if I hauled it off I could have it. Turns out it was in great condition. I felt guilty about just taking it so I bought some other stuff from him. Anyway, I am on the road to recovery! Brought it home Saturday and started cutting it up on Monday. What a great feeling! :D

Good, timing is everything. Sounds like you called him at the right time. Now you are making lemonade out of lemons. LOL

Thanks guys. I'll keep you up to date with my progress. I just noticed that I posted this in the wrong forum. Guess I was so excited I was just ready to BURST. :) I will have some spare parts after I abuse the cowl and will post something later on with pictures.
