55 Chevy No Spark

Posting this for a friend. He has a stroker with a supercharger. MSD 6, retard box and MSD distributor and coil. He has gone through the troubleshooting on the MSD box and it checks ok. He has replaced the coil and distributor and still no spark. He is wondering if it could be the ignition switch, causing the no spark issue. There is a definate electrical issue when he turns the headlights on and touches the key (without turning the key) the engine cranks. Does anyone have any ideas of what to check. Can the ignition switch be bypassed to see if the engine fires? Thanks Tom

You should be able to bypass the ignition switch by connecting a jumper from the battery + terminal to the small red wire on the msd box then crank the engine with a remote starter switch connected to the starter solenoid or using a screwdriver to jump across the solenoid terminals, I would recommend the remote switch though....
