Has anyone heard of converting a 57ish olds/poncho rear end to accept a ford 9 inch center section? Parts for these rear ends are hard to get, but the ford 9 inch center is easy to find parts for. Imagine trying to find a posi unit for a 57 Pontiac? Also, if you changed the housing ends to 9 inch Ford you would have tons of options for disc brakes too. (Although aluminum buick drums would be super cool!)
I found a reference to an article in a publication called "Gasser Wars Magazine" titled "Good News for Old Rear Ends". It's by Tom Grasso and was printed in issue 38 of Gasser Wars magazine. In his article, Tom shows how to change the bolt pattern in a '57-'64 Olds or Pontiac housing and then install a Ford nine-inch center section. The problem is that I can't find the article online!
There is no link to the article, but here's a link to the Gasser Wars magazine site:

Interesting info:
The 1957 - 58 Pontiac rearends were a bolt in (spring perches match up) for the trifives and a favorite upgrade for the gassers. 1959 - 64 will also work, but would need to be narrowed to fit.

Also, sorry if my post jumps around to much. I have had a lot of coffee today!
