hi everyone,
What do you all think of the car in the link? What typical problems should i be worried about with getting this car. I'm thinking of just making it a rat rod for now until I can do as I please with it.

Thank you for any help you all can provide

Hi Jason.
im no expert on 57 but i would ask the seller for picture of the rear innerfenders and floor.
There can be a lot off rust in those areas.

Hey Jason. The guys that own them will tell you the 4 door hard top is a nice car but hard to get body parts for. That one looks really rough. Sorry about your Camaro.

I am by no means an expert on 4 dr htps. But we have reciently sold two of them. There is a floor brace that is specific to 4 dr htps that holds the door pillars in place. I am not aware of it being reproduced. The car in the picture looks to have a large amount of rust in the rockers. It is also in illinois so i would bet that if you opened all the doors that the back doors along with the pillar would sag or maybe fall off completely. I have bought some cars and trucks on ebay. Now i am a big boy and can take my licks. But i will never buy another one without either looking at it myself. Or at least have some one else look it over for me. The last one i bought on ebay the guy took the pictures in such a manner as to not show the full extent of the rust. He had put rubber mats on the floor board to cover it.:eek:He also stated there was a title only he didnt mention that it was filled out and wrote on making it worthlesst di. The revenue dept called it a dead title. Buyer Beware but it still might be a great deal for the right person.

Thanks for the advice. I will probably steer away from this car. I always thought the 4 doors would be easier to do because no one really wanted them. Everyones after the 2 door...at least that was my understanding.

If you go with a 4 door sedan instead of the 4 door hard top then you can find lots of parts and cars at reasonable prices. Check out our classifieds.

I didnt realize there was a difference. That would be a lot more solid car as well wouldnt it? Meaning if I put a high powered engine in it, it shouldnt twist as much as the hardtop?

LMAO!! So I couldnt for the life of my figure out why someone was apologizing for my stolen camaro. I forgot what my signature was. It's actually part of a song. Clutch "The Incomparable Mr Flannery." I actually drive a 91 Notch Mustang (see how i didnt use the "F" word?!?). My brother does drive a 94 Z28 Camaro though.

Lots of work to do on that one. I'd love to have a 4dr HT.
I noticed the seller has 0 feedback.
On any ebay item where the seller is 0 or very low, I am a little leary.
Not without reason.
Send him a message asking anything about the car.
Where is it? Can I come look at it? Even if you can't get there.
Try to find out if he's legit.
If he doesn't get back to you within, say a couple days, forget it.
You have to watch out for some of those folks.
Beware of "red flags". Anything that makes you think there's something fishy going on.
"Oh, the car is actually in Cuba, but I'll ship it to you."
RED FLAG!

WOW, that looks like a whole lotta work to me! Be aware that there are a lot of parts (mainly sheetmetal/trim/doors) that are unique to 4drht's and as I've found not all that easy to get. Personally I'd consider that a donor car. Save your money and get a car that is at least driveable. That way you can drive it while you're doing it up.

If you are considering a 4 door post, take a look at mine in the classifieds. A couple of good weekends would get mine finished and it had no rust. Still has original 283/glide, radio, all the goodies.
Mark.
