CPP 500 steering box question

When fitting the box and steering column into the 56 Nomad I noticed that there was only about 1 full turn on the wheel to the left and a bit more than 3/4 turn to the right. Then I noticed that the steering arms were not hitting the stops on the lower A arms. The box was limiting the turn. Is this how it is supposed to be? It seems like this might hurt the box...

I'm not familiar with GM's steering boxes. But for one thing, I'd say your steering column is not centered, on the shaft. And you say that your steering stops, don't touch at all, left or right ? I'm having trouble, seeing why the box only has one and three quarters of a turn.
