O.K. once i get my TKO 600 this week and move the crossmember back approx. 1 3/4" I will be ready to put the 55 back on the chassis. My rotisserie does not have any wheels/ casters. Whats the best and easiest way to support the REAR of the body before it goes back onto the chassis. Im sure ill come up with a solution but if anyone has advice to help ill take it...:D

Here's the way I set the body back on the frame by myself. In the first picture the back end is still on the rotisserie. I made the saw horse to support the front so I could roll the frame under the body. I left part of the rotisserie on the rear and lifted the body by the rotisserie body mount. When the body was close to where it needed to be, I used floor jacks to support it to get the rotisserie off the rear body mounts. Notice the long bolts in the second and forth picture to guide the body onto the frame.

I'm lucky the owner of this 56 has a nice shop and is having me build his car there. Mine is just a 2 Holer behind the house, but its always full.

The only thing Im unsure about is supporting the bottom of the quarter panels to support the body:confused: I was thinknig of using a sling and rig something up which goes through the quarter windows and use my engine hoist. I would imagine it would be somewhat unstable but I think it may work providing the hoist extends that far. Anyone else have ideas on supporting the body just before it goes back on the chassis?

Any input about rigging slings through the quarter window to support the rear of the car once I disconnect the rotesserie in the rear? My concern is the possiblity of buckling the roof:confused:

When I R&R the body from frame to rotisserie or vice versa, I lift the rear of it by the trunk floor through the rear gas tank strap holes. I made a spreader bar from tubing that goes under the floor. Eyebolts go through the floor and the spreader bar. Then I connect the eyebolts to the engine hoist or comealong with a couple of short pieces of chain.

This works fine unless you have serious unrepaired rust problems in the trunk floor. Even the first time off when I had a bit of rust to repair in the trunk floor it was adequate to lift the body.

If you want to put a nylon sling through the quarter windows to lift it, I don't see any problems. The roof is very strong and stiff around the quarter windows.

I swear that I am gonna draw up the plans on one this summer. As soon as I get through the project I am working on for the university, I will get one drawn up, do the analysis on it, and get it built. I want one that can act as both a rotissere and lift. Just give me 2-3 weeks. This project is killing me. :D
