I was thinking on putting speakers in my doors and would like to know if anyone has their door panels off to tell me both cutout measurements.

Any help would be appreciated.

Rich i could check on the cutouts in my 57 doors if you need. I did read a few weeks back that someone had used those cutouts to mount some 6" speakers in.

i'm sure i can get the rear section of 6 1/2" speakers in the front cutout location. the back cutout is really interesting because they are starting to make thinner sub's now like this one from JL Audio http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs_pages.php?page_id=245 although i'm not sur if i would like to shake my door like that. with under a 3" mounting depth, maybe i can chuck it under the bench seat (on my wife's side :D)

Terry, if you have the panel off and can send me a quick measurement, that would be great. no rush. just thinking and planning out loud.

Rich, not sure if you have a console in your ride, but if you do maybe you can put the speakers there instead of the doors.

nope. no console in my 55 so it's just the dash speakers (2 speaker in the 6x9) speaker grille and the pair of 6x9's in the back deck. running the wires is the other issue. i really don't mind cutting the door panels because they're not stock. just wondering what the door opening sizes are are so i know my options when the time comes for some new speakers. right now, i listen to my hooker super comp headers courtesy of my electronic cutouts open at 25%:D.

Rich, the rear cut-out is 9 inches by nine inches, the front is 4 1/2 inches wide by 6 inches high.
