Hello all, while working on my 56 last week I tried putting on a front bumper and ran into a little trouble. I bought the bumper a long time ago from a well known tri 5 chevy dealer from AZ . I had the 3 piece front bumper rechromed a few years back. I tried to put it on the car and found that the center piece is 3 inches longer than another stock front bumper I have. If I remember right the center piece is 36 inches long and the spare center piece that I have is 33 inches long. They look exactly the same except the extra 3 inches. Anyone have any idea why one is longer? will it require different front bumper brackets?

Measured my 56 three piece center section and it's 33". Can't see how a 36" center section could be used.

A 55 center section is 33" also.
The rear center section for a 55 is 37"+.

Thanks for the quick response guys, thats what I was wondering if 33" is right. Oh well :D looks like I will get the center piece on the extra spare bumper rechromed since it will fit ok. The center piece that is 3" longer may be to a different car who knows, the new chrome sure looks good though LOL. The chrome shop may have given me the wrong center.
