Couple of weekends ago, I went to ACE Hardware to get some fasteners. A Red '55 Belair Hdtp was parked in front. I of course parked next to it. The owner came out and we started chatting about each other's trifives. His '55 had a wood roof panel with flames carved out. It was upholstered in Red and gold to match the gold dust ghost flames on the front end. The '55 owner said a friend of his used a router to carve out the flames in a wood panel. Then, it was covered with red & gold cloth. Looked professionally done as the rest of his car. There was a 4-5" upholstered border around the perimeter of the roof line above the windows that transitioned to the carved panel. Wish I had brought the camera. I'll see him again, as he lives about three miles from me.
