That would be a great idea Otis, only problem is we'd all probably like to have it our own backyards! Short of that, is there some place that is considered a "cool" place for trifives? Maybe a world famous diner, or a race track, or just some really cool place like Milwaukee (?) :)

The Nashville, Tn area has good interstate access from most directions and enough motels and resturants to choose from. We used to go to Gatlinburg with our 70 SS chevelle, but that area is always crowded.

My trifive wont be driveable for a few years. I would still love to have a meet. Just have to know far enough in advance to be able to plan some vacation time. Someplace central in the USA.

Nashville area could be doable for me....doubt that I'd be able to drive the 57 that far, but I could still attend.

I attend many car related events all around the country each year....often times the trip to and from is as fun as the event itself. You can count me in....I'm always up for an adventure!

I would enjoy having a Tri-Five get together, and I will drive the 57' providing I have saved enough for the Fuel!

Nashville sounds reasonable to me. I would be curious what venue would be available there.

Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area is good, lot of activity, accomodations, several car gatherings a year and the Floyd Garrett MuscleCar Museum at Sevierville.
Wife and I go there about 4-5 times a year and it's centrally located to about 1/2 the US:) :p :D

This sounds like a great idea....Let's keep this discussion active and see if we can get something done.I would probably travel to wherever, but keeping it in the central part of the U.S. would probably yeild the best attendance.A state fairground or state park might be a good venue to look at if there is enough interest or on a smaller scale,a hotel parking lot or city/county park may work.We have both a city and state park as well as many hotel/motels in my area that might work if anyone is interested in coming to Nebraska! I will be more than willing to help get this off the ground if there is enough interest.....It will take some work but the end result would be a blast! This site is showing very steady growth so let's hear from everyone on this subject!Perhaps we could start a "sticky post" to find those people interested in attending and also who might be willing to help organize.I will start by putting my name at the top of both lists! Sooooo.......Let's hear it!!

That's some great enthusiasm! I'm more in the "interested but will need more details" category. I'd love to say I'm "IN" but it'll depend on when and where it is.

Bump to the top.I can't believe with the number of members accumulating on this site that there hasn't at least been a few comments regarding this idea!(Thanks,57 Chev) Let's toss around a few suggestions of what you do/don't like at such an event. Here are a couple suggestions for discussion.....1 day event or 3 day weekend? Judged or no? Awards? Door prizes?Tri-5 only or perhaps includes Chevys thru say,1964...or?? Include a band or DJ? Vendors or no? Event sponsored meal?Hold it at a venue where camping may be possible?
I am a member of a couple of other hotrod related message boards and we have meet-n-greets at most of the major rodding events around the country.Perhaps tying a group get together to one of these events would be a possibility as well? It is really cool to meet the people you visit with daily on these message boards.....I have made many, many great friends over the years from all over the country.Typed words can often be interpreted many ways.....it really helps to have met the person behind the keyboard!Either way.....I certainly look forward to meeting some of the other members somewhere down the road in 07....Let's hear some comments!!

I'd be interested in weekend event tied in with some good family events. Since I'll probably be back at work by the time this gets organized I would have to use vacation/personal days to attend, would probably need 2 days travel and 2 days for event. Working 60-70 hrs week cuts into family time.
Would like to meet as many of the Trifive gang as possible so let's keep working on this. (BTW in the grocer business the weekends are at a premium to get off).

I have a hard time finding enough time to go to local events....I missed a really good one just this past weekend. However, if we could have a weekend long event that is somewhere in Tennessee or maybe Kentucky, then I could probably find a way to get there on my way to or from Wisco. I'd like that. I could leave Fla and spend a night or two in Tenn or Kentucky and then continue on to Wisco.
As for judging, etc....I think a non-judged event could be fun, but I have no problem with a judged one. I probably won't be bringing my 57 either way.
I think opening it up to classic cars other than trifives is a great idea. I'd like to see a theme, however....chevy only for example.
These are some of my thoughts.
Oh, yeah, and it would be cool to have a webcast of the event.

I have visions of going to "Hot August Nites" in Reno next year.....if I can be ready and still have enuf money to drive it..lol A weekender somewhere in central zone would be awesome! I would definitely try to work it into my schedule.!!

I haven't been able to drive my 55 in about 5 years. Its been torn down and undergoing the rebuild. Now it's sitting with new paint and I am actually getting to put on some of the new parts I have been hoarding over the past 5 years. I WILL be driving it next summer!!!! You name a place and I will come there. A suggestion may be Springfield Mo. Looking forward to cruising somewhere.

I know mine wont be a driver for a few more years. I do own a tag along 25' trailer which I tow with my '02 Silverado HD 2500. I would need a chance to arrange for some vacation time to get there and back. I don't mind driving as most of you already know. I would love to meet some of the members from New England area also.

Now that would be fun -- we could all trailer our cars to the get together! Why should we be limited only to seeing those cars that are driveable!
Maybe we could make it a week long event and I could bring my car and we could all pitch in and get her running! :)

A suggestion may be Springfield Mo.
I got about 10 guys from another chat to meet up in 2001 at Branson MO. However a couple flew in and others didn't have their cars together yet (me being one). We reserved a block of rooms in a motel there. We had evening meals together and sat around at night on the patio at the motel and discussed our cars past and present. During the day people were free to take in attractions with their spouses and or kids. That way it was both a vacation for the guys and their families.

MikeKy55 is right. I lived there before moving to the cold place I live now. Branson is aboout 45 minutes from Springfield, for all you country music fans. And I think there are a couple car museums there. Somebody out there Knows more about Branson then I do. I lived by Joplin and as a local I stayed away from Branson in the busy season. It was called the 10 mile traffic jam. There are alot of nice cruises in almost any direction. You can even, cruise some of the original Route 66. I've driven my 55 over many miles of the Great Highway, through Joplin and out into Kansas.

I attend the NSRA Mid-America Nat's in Springfield,Missouri.GREAT town....lots of places to stay and dine out....very easy town to navigate. They also have an awesome fairgrounds.Would be an awesome cruise to Branson for those that are Country Music fans. The NSRA event is always over Memorial weekend....Only open to 1948 and earlier vehicles though. If interested in having this get-together in conjunction with a larger event....The GoodGuys Heartland Nat's in Des Moines,Iowa over the 4th of July weekend might be a possibility....pretty centrally located in the middle of the country. We have a group that books a block of rooms each year.....we have tons of fun in the hotel parking lot swapping lies each evening. For me,the drive getting there is half the fun....I'll go most anywhere!Keep the ideas and suggestions coming!!

Illinois could be a good place, too. Somewhere near major interstates like the I-80/I-39 intersection for example. Or further south like near Peoria or Bloomington or even further south near Effingham!
Of course, there'd be nothing else to do so maybe we'd be better off finding a place like Branson Missouri where we'd have tons of non-car related things to do.
I forgot to mention -- if there's a place where we can camp at the site that might be really cool too! I'd love to have that option.
Do any of you Kentucky guys know of a good place near Lake Kentucky? That would put us real close to tons of recreational options.

We are growing pretty fast and a cruise would be great, I just need few more months to get mine road ready if we can't do it in 07 maybe 08 or something. I know you guys that have yours on the road are ready to go but let us catch up:)
This is a great idea we have to do it, just when and where is the key.

I liked to join in on another gathering like we had in Branson. Wife and I love the south. We would love to see more of TN, KY, etc. I really think if it happens this spring/summer we'd have to do a fly in and rental car. Know anywhere that would rent a Tri:confused:

As Otis posted above....The site is steadily growing but perhaps we're not to the point yet where a "Stand Alone" event is practical. As I said earlier,on another message board that I post on (The RRT) we set up a "meet and greet" at a designated spot at a predetermined time in conjunction with most of the major events around the country. At many of the events we have a predetermined parking area where we congregate/park as well. I have met many, many wonderfull people thru this process....It may be a way for those of us here on Tri-5 to get to know each other a bit without the hassles of creating our own event at this point.I will make it a point to start a thread prior to each event I attend in 07.....we can then determine a place and time to meet.On the other site,we usually have sort of a "sign-up" thread letting everyone know who's planning to attend, what they'll be driving etc.I hope other members will do the same as I will be attending many events around the country in 07 and would sure like to meet some of the membership!Believe me,it's a lot more fun corresponding on these message boards after you've had the opportunity to meet many of the members.Look forward to meeting everyone in the upcoming year!

That sounds great! How about some where central like Indy or St Louis or Springfield, MO maybe even Topeka, KS or Denver? That way it would be pretty central and a greater chance of pulling more cars in for it. I know for a fact that Indy, St Louis or Springfield have alot of hotel/motel rooms because we have either raced or shown there.

I just need to know in advance to get the time off to be there. I wont be driving my car as it is still far from being driveable.
