I know you guys will know what to do ---

We have a 57 4door with a 283 engin. The carb is in really rough looking shape and sticks at throtle, plus the choke and idle screws seem mashed.
It's a GMJet2 Rochester.
Now the question, we ordered a rebuilt one from H&H and they sent a GM 2Jet Rochester.

The obveous diference is the gas feed is on the front of the old Jet2 and the feed for the rebuilt 2Jet is on the side. Do we try to get a 90degree to feed the carb from the side or is it the wrong carb? We were hopeing for a simple swap out but then again I don't buy lottery tickets either .
thanks for any help

Just a thought -- call H&H and tell them you were looking for an exact replacement, maybe they'll send you a different one. I'd want the same one, not just something that works, but that's just my opinion.

Hi Bob.

First i would do like Mike say and contact H&H.

Second if everything else fit except the gas feed i think it will work if you mount a 90 degree to the fuel line.

Looks like their are two vacume fittings on the new carb that aren't on the old one. Makes me wonder if someone over the years built something of their owne just to keep the car running and modified the fuel feed. I think I'll pull the old one off and really compare them side by side for linkage hook up and all.

thanks for the input
