Can this box be used in conversion for my 56. Need to know before I go any further.

I HIGHLY recommend you save up your money & go with a CPP 500 steering box. You will save yourself a lot of trouble. If you ever have to sell your car, that is a box guys like to see installed. Something cobbled together with that Nova box might make it harder to sell.

The Nova box simply won't fit.
