Was working on the 57 last night and went to crawl out from under the thing and saw what i first thought was a weird shadow, i wish. Seems i have a place on the quarter were the filler has decided to lift. Just flat out made me sick. Went and talked to the shop that did the work this evening and was told no problem we`ii fix it. Just hope we can get the color to match now.

You had filler lift? Wow. That means that either the surface was not clean, not scuffed enough for the filler to stick(more than likely this is the problem), or it was too thick. Take a magnet to it to check the thickness. It should not be thicker than about 1/4". How old is the paint? This is why I think I am going to learn how to lead the seams and low spots.

Sorry to hear about your problem....The good news is it sounds like you have a reputable paint shop to deal with.
Eldon,I'd be very carefull using lead as a filler.I'm told most of the new primers/paints don't adhere that well to the lead.My experience has been that the new fillers are far superior to the old lead.In fact,on all of the streetrods I build,we melt out the lead and replace it with a product called All Metal. The only time I've ever had a paint/primer lift was over original lead filler.Just my .02 worth!

You know what, I completely forgot about that stuff. I know about it (All Metal) and have used it before, but forgot about it. I did not know about the problems with lead and new paint. You can tell I have been away from it for too long. I must get back into it and do some studying! Thanks Late!

Eldon the filler was pretty thin in that area. You see i made visits on a day or every other day basis. Plus it helps to be friends with the guys.

Paint match should not be a problem since the sun the car has seen is when you move it outside to take pictures  :D
All kidding aside it should be fine.

Yes Mike that is one thing i`ve done thought of since it leads such a sheltered life. HAHA. I think we`re going to try to redo from the trim line down. I don`t want to have to remove the back glass again to remove the qtr. ss trim corner pc.
