OK, so I really dig the way the original 57 Bel Air - Red and Cloud interior looks. Especially in a black car.

I still have my original back seat and have acquired an original front bench. I plan on going with this interior with the exception of black carpets and black windlace as my headliner and windlace are only a few years old.

Here’s the twist.
I have a black 1956 210 2 door sedan. I just think the 57 interior is super stylish. I’m not concerned with correctness and have no plans to sell the car as I have owned it since January of 1983. I previously had pillowy black cloth front and rear seats from an 78 Eldorado in the car since like 85. The split power bench was ultra comfy (like sitting on your couch), but it never looked “right”.

I think this interior will look good, but probably tick off the purists.

My 56 dash is black, stock looking and my gauges will now be hidden in the glove box. I’ve got a column shifted auto.

thoughts?

Regards,
Dan

If you like it, do it.

The 57 seat covers are slightly different from the 56 because the seat itself is different. Suggest you call CARS and see what you can work out with them. Or you can just buy the material from them and have an upholstery shop stitch it up for you.

I was planning on using CARS. It says right in their catalog they will make it how you want it, I think it's like 15% more!

I talked to a guy on Powertour last summer with a 66 Nova wagon. It was black with a red interior. He told me he had CARS make the deluxe interior with the the wrong material or something like that. It looked stock to me but I don't know Novas. He says it always has the Nova purists scratching their heads.

thanks for the feedback!

Make "your" car the way "You" want. You will never make everyone happy, so as long as you make you happy that is all that matters.

I am sure that I am making people mad that I have pefectly good 57 that has been cut up to place 33 x 22.5 x 15's under the rear, but so what it is what makes me happy

There's only one thing you can do to a trifive or any old car for that matter that upsets me and that's to let it sit somewhere and die. Do what you want with that interior, your the one that has to sit in it. Make yourself happy.
