I was stuck in Houston Texas at the airport and decided to buy a popu;ar science magazine to pass the time. In this mag I came across a storry about a 55 chevy that had been consumed by a yellow jacket nest. The whole interior is completely covered by this nest. It is on page12 and 13 of the November addition. If this is a member of our trifive group , or not, my prayers go out to you. I have never seen anything like that before. The only thing you can see is the instrument cluster and the steering wheel. You got to see it to believe it. Dennis

Speaking of Texas and yellow jackets, last month we picked up a '55 Bel Air 4 door station wagon project car in central Texas and trailered it to the Kansas City area. Below the driver's side horn we noticed an impressive yellow jacket nest populated with 20 or 30 wasps. Not wanting to be confrontational we just let them ride for the first 30 miles, figuring they would blow away. They didn't. So, with military precision, a wooden wheel chock was thrown toward the nest AS the hood was being closed (read slammed) then immediate egress ensued (we ran and jumped in the truck, shut the doors and hit the gas. 600 miles further and the next day the hood was opened in Kansas. A lone yellow jacket flew up and away, heading south.

My friend Larry in Topeka just sold a pretty clean 55 wagon for 2500 on e-bay. I think the buyer was from Leesummit. Not to change the subject.Sorry.
