Hello,

I also bought a Fat Rodder Front Disc Brake Conversion Kit for my 57 and would not do it again. The women running the place are idiots.

After I installed kit I took to lcoal shop for aligment and found out I have -2.0 degrees of Caster that I need to correct by adding in an after market control arm shafter. If I buy after market tublar control arms, will this help correct (or at least provide adjustment) to my Caster problem?

Anotrher problem I found out is that after about 15-20 minutes of constant driving, my wheel beearing heat up and start to seize. I check and my spindle nut is not very tight.

Can caster misalignment afffect wheel bearings? any help appreciated

Best Regards,

You probably just need the offset upper control arm shafts that add about +2 degrees caster...

What are you running for lubrication in your hubs? Should be chassis grease and packed into the bearings. A little extra grease in the hubs helps also.
What is the toe-in set at?

Hi Guys,

The Toe was set just recently with a new alignment. Per Firestone info sheet, All adjustments fall within specs except for right front that is at -2 degree caster. Can I get buy with just adding the after market control arm shaft on tehe right side or do I need to do the left side also?

hello
caster is an alignment angle that uses the weight of the car to keep the wheels going straightit also keeps the car stable at higher speeds.
is your car a manual steering or power steering. on a manual steer car you dont want as much caster because it uses the weight to plant the wheels straight and adds to the "armstrong" effect.
the only time i ran into it being a problem is when the cross caster is over 1.0 degrees then it would cause a pull to the more positive caster side.
did the conversion consist of new spindles? the spindle could be machined wrong.are the control arms straight? these cars are 50 plus years old and some of them have been abused...ive heard stories. end product is there are many variables and i would find the source of the problem before you use a "alignment helper"to cover the problem
