Running a 454- 3/4" forward with 500 steering box. Made a modified drop center link to use my pan. Most I've read here (and there's alot of post on the subject) is you"ll have to change your pan or steering link. Headers can (will) be an issue too. Search through past posts and read up-there's alot of knowledge on this site.

Im pulled forward 1 1/4" runnin 605 with speedway motors full length headers and the milodon pan with no issues..2 1/4" fwd may create issues, allthough milodon does make another oil pan that is more notched (think it is listed for 55-57 and chevy II's)..would work great with rack and pinion, trust me when you see it youll know what im talking about..at any rate, being pulled fwd that much you may need that pan. Hope this helps:cool:

I run CCI mounts ,full lenth headers, 500 PS, Eldebrock mech fuel pump, BBC Falcon II pan, I tried the 1 inch foward or whatever that came tacked in the car for the blown 454 the prevous owner was going to us and things fit like a saddle on a sow

What engine and oil pan Brian?? There was a thread a week(?) ago about drag link and pan clearance issues.

I'm running a 502 with the original pan, which have been 'altered' to clear the center link, and a Delphi 600 box. And some home brewed headers.
As mentioned above the drag link as well as the header clearance will be something to fix/consider.
It's far from impossible though! :)

hey Keith.it's a BBC and i have the moroso oil pan the one with the notch in it,it's very close the drag link to the notch in the oil pan but it doesn't rub.moroso also makes one that comes stright down, and milodon also, but not sure about ground clearance,i had mine from a previous car,and with my car being lowered seams to work out fine.i'll see if i can get a picture of it.

Hi Don, is that stock height or lowered? I've got a 3" drop in the front... any clearance problems w/ that pan? thanks - Sammy

Brian I am planning to go with the same set up as you have. You have 1 1/2" fwd. How is firewall clearance for distributer and valve covers? Did you do any mods to firewall also? I will be running a pertronix flame thrower which is approx the same diameter as a stock points type distributer.and short valve covers. Thanks any info wil be appreciated. I am hoping that the 1 1/2 fwd will be good without firewall mods?

:sign0016:hi guys im new to the site i have a question on steerins with a big block can you use the stock steering pieses

Jared..on our 56 we got away with 3/4 inch forward CPP mounts that had to be cut and rewelded...slight mods on the firewall..stock 210{six cylinder} steering box..but were able to use the stock 77 454 truck pan...linkage interferes with the pan at a hard lock right or hard lock left turn...normal driving no problem..headers were a set of Dougs cut down to fit on the steering box side and raised up on both sides to stay even with the frame..
