It was a one family owned California black plate truck that went in the garage when it got here to Massachusetts in 86. It sat in the garage until 2009. I will post more pics soon. :) Just added a more current picture.

If you were closer, I'd have you help finish mine up, I've really been stumped on time lately, so my vision to finish this year has pretty much gone in the tank... anyway, you guys do excellent work, looking forward to update, take care, Leon:cool:

In the past I've had a '57 Ma Bell (California) panel truck, a '57 Burb that was an Indian Res school bus with factory power steering, and several '57 pickups. All gone now but I have the remains of a '56 Navy pickup that I hope to build some day that was in a wash in the mountains in Az., a friend has a '56 Navy pickup also fron the same Navy order contract that he is restoring. In Fla. I know a guy with an Army Burb and I just found a '56 pickup that was at Fort Bragg as it's last duty station that is calling to me.

Here's a couple pics of mine, sold it a couple years ago- BIG mistake. Working hard on another now and have one more stashed away just in case. I swore I would buy next time rather than build but after looking for a year with a reasonable budget (what I sold the old one for) I gave up and bought another project.

I built this truck in the early 90's. I sold it to buy my first house then ran across it about six years later. It had been sold a couple of times but I was lucky enough to buy it back. It was my first vehicle. I am one of the few that got there first one back.

Hello guys, I'm the latest newbie to join the forum and this is my first post. Below is a picture of my 56 truck that I purchased last February. The truck has a 58 fleetside bed, LS1 engine and C4 corvette suspension front and rear. I've spent the last few months trying to get my mind around what I want to do with the truck. I look forward to getting your input throughout this project which will likely take a few years to complete.

For being a mismatched bed, the lines look pretty good to me! You're in the right place for some great ideas on how to move on...

I've been working on it about a year. Its got an '08 GMC 5.3L w a 4L60E that I'm leaving injected. Its got the LS heads. We have so far cut 34" of length out of the frame, installed Heidts super ride II independent front suspension with air ride shockwaves, installed a donor Explorer rear end with 4 bar and air ride shockwaves in back too.We boxed and notched frame, installed suicide doors, and shaved everything. Couple last last mock up pics before we tore it apart to pull the cab off and sand blast.41047

Hi! I'm new to the forum. Here are some pix of my 1957 'Ruby' red 3200 series 1/2 ton with 8' long-bed. Ruby has a '66 chev 327/350 hp w/a turbo 400 tranny. The extra NOS things are fun, too --- Anti-sway bar, hood birds, interior wall-mounted tray behind seat. She's fun cruising with pals and kiddos!

Just picked this little monster up in Kentucky. New 383 stroker pushing 450HP--way to fast but tons of fun:). I have some cosmetic stuff to do inside but overall a nice ride. Has a 77 Camaro sub-frame with new power disc bakes, power steering and I was lucky enough to find one with the big back glass. Gonna have to fab some brackets for the front bumper. Its really nice to have something to cruise in---and only $8,500.:) JIM.

Hi...I was lookin at your gastank/shelf shot and at the moment i'm installing a new tank in my 57. I'm getting conflicting suggestions in regards to the placement of the tarpaper pads and whether or not to place some kind of fabrid where the tank seats in the cab....how did you do yours? I can see the pads on the front straps and I assume they're placed the same on the rear but did you lay anything else down where it sits?

My 57 that I bought from the original owner's family a couple of years ago. It has the original 6 cylinder, 3 spd on the column, power steering on the generator, electric wipers and vacuum assist brakes. I use it almost daily running errands and hauling stuff here and there. The only rust is in the lower door skins. It is a great old truck.[ATTACH]57002

I note the gas cap is no longer in the original location, where to do you have the tank now?

Haven't put the hood back on because I can't do it by myself so I'm waiting to catch a couple of friends by surprise when they come over. The most work this truck does any more is tow my boat to the water. Here is one when I put the mot0r in64522 and this is showing the effect of the ghost peal.. in the evening so the pic could be better You can't tell in the pics because it has to be moving, but the wheels are painted with a color shifting peal brown, gold, red combo.64521

64898 When I went through it in 1974
64899 When I went through it in 2011
All it takes to keep the truck looking like it did is lots of time and money.
But all the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't make Gonzo look like he did back then.
Some where around here I have a picture of this truck the day it came home from the dealership. It is in the back ground and I am sitting next to a little tree that had just been planted, I was 4 years old. Not that it really matters because it has had a few changes but this truck has 155,000 original miles on it, I got it in 1967 and it had less than 30,000 on it. Over the years it has towed my race car to the drag strip, my Harley to car shows, my dirt bikes and dune buggy to the desert, guns and dogs hunting, a numerous amount of hot women (all commented about the glove box being chromed) and it still tows my boat to the water. Lots of toys have come and gone but my truck is still here. With all the things that I own, the only thing my daughter has said that she wants when I die is my truck. Smart girl.
