Decoding Your VIN # Cdn / USA

Is there a difference between decoding a Canadian VIN# as apposed to an American VIN#

I've been searching online and on pg 10 of the LMC catalog

Apparently my Serial Identification Number should start with a letter.

My VIN # plaque says General Motors of Canada is there a GMC / Chev truck VIN decoder website for Canadian VINs ???

No ... That's not the truck in my Aviator.
That VIN plaque is attached to this.

All 55 56 0r 57 to me... and not a GMC either.. maybe the hood , but that's all.

Just updating an old thread.
I took some pictures of my truck into my local Chev dealership to see if they could confirm my VIN # was really a Chevrolet truck or a GMC
I was pretty sure it was a Chev, but the title (ownership) said GMC.
They called Head Office and after giving my VIN # to the person on the phone they were able to confirm it was a Chev truck.
They were also able to tell me who ordered the truck and which dealership it was contracted to. And even the selling price. :shakehands:

They printed a letter for me so I could take it to the Ministry Curbs and Pot Hole so I could get my ownership corrected.

I paid for this to get a print out of the details of my VIN from GM of Canada, you might want to check it out, they give you some details on letterhead and other specs.
