I took a 90 minute drive today to check out a 56 Nomad for sale. I was a little disappointed as the pictures will show. The pictures make it look better then it was, it was advertized as a project car. It was missing the windows, interior, some of the chrome, engine trans, and I'm not sure what else. he had done some metal replacement in the passeger rear quarters and new floors. Lots of rust around the rear drip edge, and windshield. He wanted $8500, which I thought might be a little high, but when I saw it I think it qualifies as a lot high. I asked if his price was firm and he said it would have to be in the $8000 range. Am I dreaming to think I might find something better for less money?? Here are the pictures.

I personally think you should be able to find a lot more car for that kind of coin. Just keep faith and take your time.

Just remember that the Nomads are going to be a little higher than other wagons or cras either.

Nomads are expensive. If the car has most of the Nomad specific trim pieces, and the bottom of the car is not totally rusted, the price is probably in the ballpark. Deduct for missing pieces or extensive rust. But not a whole lot. Compare on Ebay, $8500 is a very normal asking price for a Nomad in this condition.

The roof rot is probably the worst part of this car.

if you are looking for a nomad project, then looks about right for the money :). make sure it's got all the paper (vin, title, ect.).............$8000 range seems fair to both seller and buyer for this one :)

I guess I will go after the 55 2 door wagon I have located. I'm afraid the Nomads are out of my price range. I should have kept the 55 Nomad I had in high school. Anyone interested in this car, I can forward you a phone number. It's located about 90 miles south of Chicago.

The price is right, but the car is wrong. I've seen some good deals on craigslist in California. I know it's a long trip for you, but I think it's worth it if you want a solid Nomad.

I agree. Don't settle for a 2 door wagon if you want a Nomad. Besides I would rather have one with a rusty bottom and a good roof than the other way around. You can buy all the pieces to fix the bottom, but the roof requires special tallent, especially on a Nomad with the ribs on the roof. Keep looking and a good deal will come along.
