Been wanting a big window truck for a long time. Found this one sitting in a guys yard with a for sale sign on it. It's a 56 that is probably 90% or more original. Has an original V8 with Overdrive and Power brakes, which I have never seen a 56 truck with original power.

He said it was stored in a barn since 1972. It's got a lot of surface rust but pretty solid. The cab is in really good shape, which is the best part for me. Big window trucks are getting harder and harder to find. Going to be awhile before I can get to it, got some cars ahead of it.....I already got the dogs barking at my front door trying to buy it from me.....

longbed?
Yep.... I was wanting a short bed but started thinking "everybody has a short one" I found this one and scooped it up. I was really just looking for a big window cab didnt care if it was long or short.

Looks like a real solid truck to start on. Wish you guys would quit finding those trucks, since i`d like to have one too but don`t need any more projects.

I am one who knows about dragging more cars to my house. It looks like you drug a nice one home. I've been looking for something similar. I think I may have a deal on 3 of them and may come out on top in the end. Yours looks solid, should be a nice ride when you get around to it.

You gonna keep it GMC or get a hood and grille and make it a Chevy?
I have a 55 GMC panel and I have been looking for the front trim( grille and bumper) and have had no luck. At least yours came with the moustache .-KB

And that thing actually runs....

poured some fresh oil in it, Put a set of points in it, filled the carb up through the vent tube, pour some gas down it's throat and after about twenty minutes of coaxing she fired up. Has 45psi oil pressure. Those lifters were clanking for about 2 minutes and then shut up. Carb is shot, fuel pump doesnt pump, water pump wont turn, radiator leaks, been sitting since 1972 so it needs 37 years of maintenance done to it.

Heck I might try to save this motor.... :anim_25:
