Anybody know what if anything covered the back side of the seat back on a 1955 second series? Cardboard? I am trying to restore mine close to orignal. If someone has a picture that would be really great! Thanks

The seat in my 57 is original and is open at the back with springs exposed... I think this is how they were..
If I can find a reference, I'll post it...

they were never fully covered sorry i don't have a pic of an original one
I have a 55 2nd series also, and there is no cover on it. All you see is the springs. I know my seat is original but it has been re-upholstered. I beleive there was nothing ever covering the back of the seat.
Thanks, rg55

Originally there was nothing covering the seat back. I did build an attached cover on one that i recovered for a customer per his instructions. If it has a big back window you can see the upper part of the springs from outside with it wide open.
