I have two 350 engines, but they have different size balancers. Why?
Which should I use for the engine I am putting in? (It has the bigger unit on now)
Have I the choice?
Sorry guys, this is all new to me! I was brought up on Ford Pinto units and BL A Series! (Old Mini)

I don't remember why there were two different sizes, but I was always told to use the larger one. Details are pretty fuzzy though, perhaps somebody with a bit more knowledge or a better memory than me will chime in.
I've got a friend that lives in Surrey county, a place called Epsom.

Epsom is about 5 miles from me!!! I live in Lower Kingswood on the A217 (a road)
Does yer mate drive a Yank? Does he get to the Guildford monthly meeting? If he does, get him to contact me through the forum, or PM me details and we could meet!
Sorry Bud, thanks for trying! Memory is an age thing..........
.........I'm just finding out!

Naa, she drives a Renault or something like that. I've been trying to convince her to buy some Yank iron. Or come visit me. Or let me visit there. I can't really convince her to do anything, lol.

Mark, I would stick with the one that was on the engine originally. I think that in the late 60's they used the bigger balancers.

You might want to measure the balancer. The original V8's had the smaller ones, and the big ones won't clear the frame. I tried it with a big one and had to replace it.

Most 350s use an 8" balancer. Though I'm sure it's possible that some came with the smaller 6-3/4" balancer, most likely a PO has installed it.
The 8" balancer will clear the front crossmember in a 55-57, but if you use the original front mounts you must either notch them to clear or use the small balancer.
The 8" balancer is better for longevity.
6-3/4" balancers are used by racers to cut rotating weight. The effect is similar to using a light flywheel.
