I'm not sure I understand the insurance deal. You want to lower your truck so it will fit in the garage? Do you have stock suspension? 55-57 Truck?

Most likely collector vehicle insurance....Better rates if its under lock and key in the garage.

it is a requirement that any vehicle is in a garage, workshop or storage facility. plus, it is nicer to work inside the garage:happy0030:

Moto posted in the truck forum. I think he is trying to say that his truck won't fit into his garage because his truck is too tall. So he wants to lower it cheaply to comply with the insurance rules.

Theres a few ways to lower it, but how low you need to go?
Some pics would help. Yes removing leafs would lower it.
Is your rear axle on top or bottom of leafs, thats another way to lower it
More info would help

it's a 1-ton. the spring leafs are on top of the axle. yeah, i'd love a new front suspension and rear driveline, but it ain't going to happen for awhile

A 1 ton stock suspension, now I see why it won't fit in the garage. That thing probably has a stack of 5 or 6 leafs. you could remove a few of them that will lower it a little. You could flip the rear end on top of the springs but then it would be near impossible getting the front down without subframing it. To get my Conversion Van in the garage I have to let a bunch of air out of the tires and drive it in carefully.

RW, i have thought about the air in the tires:rolleyes:it may come to that. i'll probably pull a couple of leafs out of front and rear, for now.

Don't see why that won't work. There is also a drop front axle avail. for the half-ton, don't know if it would fit yours though. Anyway that should work and super cheap!
