I have a 1957 four door Townsman wagon. Someone in the past took my VIN off the body. I do have a title with the car, and I found the VIN number stamped into my frame. I also have aquired a VIN tag for a replacement. I've got an assembly manual that calls for the tag to be located on the drivers hinge post about 3" up from the bottom of the door opening. Could I get someone to take a picture of theirs for me to look at?

This where the VIN is on my 55. I think you will find all three years are the same.
If you need to reattach it, use some sort of epoxy like JB weld or such. Do not drill and rivet. It will draw questions from you DMV.

Fallman that pic from Mike is the VIN tag. Mine isn`t as straight as his but about the exact same location. Terry.

Terry, I followed your link and looked at "The Girlfriend". Great pictures! I see Mike has given me a close up to look at. He must have posted that while I was on your web site looking at your car. The post wasn't there when I first looked. Looked at his posting time, and it must have been there. Oh well I guess I didn't scroll down far enough. Ever look at something right in front of you and not see it? Now I'll have to go back to my assembly manual and check again. I'm pretty sure that is not the location it called out. Thanks to both of you guys!!!!
