I have a 57 Chevy Bel Air that needs, I repeat needs, tires. I would like to get something that looks good and maintains the stock look without breaking the bank. I have the original 14" wheels and would like to use them with some new tires.

Any suggestions? I'm looking for tire suggestions as well as vendor suggestions (i.e. I need to know what to get as well as where to get it.)

Thanks.

Hey Mike,
If you really want to have that old look.Firestone tires can order the three inch whitewalls,if thats what you want.I ordered them for my 57 4dr.and they look good on it.
Too bad I put the wagon before the horse, because I kept stripping it down so now I'm ready to pull the body.

Eventually I want the old look, but for now I just want safe rubber on the wheels! I might run down to the local discount tire shop and see what they could do for me, cheap and fast, maybe!

14" wheels, eh? my original wheels are 15" for some reason, but with a 14" spare, weird. wut u could do, is find some old style polys, for the front, and get some Honcho Wide 60 for the rear, :) Mike.

that's odd, thanx for the info, they looked like original style rims, so i took it to mean they were original, the car has been used for a deer camp car since it was a year old, dont ask me, he drove it from camp to stand. and when i got it, it had 14's on the front but they didn't hav the spots between lugs that curved out, so first time i tried to take them off, they got stuck to the rivet thingys on the drum, and wheels were black color. Back rims were 15's with old style co-ops, like for jeeps, and they looked to hav been repainted a turquoise color, there were a couple runs, is how i noticed. but i just pulled spare out and it is an emerald green 14", with like a 3" wide white wall on it, it says polyglass, and it looks to have never been used, ha, it still has 25 psi in it. thats weird, figured tire would be fallin apart by now. well good luck roddin', I'm off to the races.
