Hi

I wonder if anyone have some photos of how close and high the door should be against the body? :confused:

I would do the adjustments with the stainless mounted.

Many cars even at shows have the door mounted 1/2" lower than the window stainless. :confused:

The tech article you sent Bob was great, lots of info how to adjust both the doors and the body.

Rickard nice picture thats what i wanted to see, and also that maybe it is that i try to make it fit a little to good.
iI will try to put the stainless on and see how it looks.

owe; rigi shows a very good picture. g.m. didn't get everything perfect back then. my 55 also has the vent window stainless alittle lower than the windshield stainless.but everything else is ok.if you could bring the door up so the stainless is where it should be ,the door will be uo to high above the cowl, and you would end up with problems at the flipper area.here's some pictures of my car. need any more let me know.

Hi Stan.

Some great pictures,
In the pictures it looks like have got the door and fender really good lined up.

Thanks for reminding me that i have to think about those flippers also, so the stainless dont get to high.

What im doing is to get the door as perfect as possible before i replace the quaterpanel on the right side.

owe; a few ideas on door line up. this is time consuming and get a helper. A)check the gap at the vent window stainless and the windshield stainless and get them stainless mouldings flush with each other. on my 55 the gap between the vent window and the windshield stainless is 1/8" B)get a even gap along the rocker panel C)get the door flush with the rocker.D)now the gap of the door to cowl should be about 1/8" and the door should be the same height as the cowl also. E)if your old quarter is still on the car look at the belt line stainless on the door it should be the same hight as the quarter panel belt line stainless to get the door in or out adjust the striker,

notice my vent window stainless is lower than the windshield stainless i could not get it to go higher so that's where it will stay. from 1 angle it look not to be flush but it really is.:cool:

not a problem at all. if anyone else needs info i'll try to help. by the way when my 55 was totally done in 2003, i heard about this new fangled contraption called a computer :D i should of got a computer as i was restoring my car but had no idea that any sights about restoring cars was there. when i got my computer i had some one set it up and help me out for a few hours then i was on my own. then a friends sister helped me out after i was going crazy, trying to figure this thing out.
