What's everyone using for an angle finder? I found this KD Tools one online at Napa Auto Parts: http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?R=SER2968_0006404247 However, it seems like the price is too cheap...Do I need something better?....Also, I haven't seen it in person....However, it looks like it might be too big to get into tight places....Other thoughts/considerations/recommendations :confused0006:

David, that's the one I use and it works fine. As a matter of fact, I've been using it all afternoon trying to RE-set my pinion angle. JIM.

The kind you show will sit there and the needle will swing forever. The distance between marks for each degree is very small also.

Someone at work purchased one from McMaster-Carr that was damped a bunch better, and I would recommend it (about $21 one or 2 years ago). Trouble is, they sell several and I don't know which one they got without checking (and it may not be there now).

I have a "Smart Tool" digital unit that I bought several years ago. They sell for $80-100 on the internet. It's excellent.

The best one for the $$ right now though is the Sears digital unit that was about $35 a year ago. You can find it at sears.com. The company bought me one not too long ago for work use. I think it's about the same quality as the "Smart Tool".

So I'd recommend the Sears one.

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago. Accurate to 0.1 degrees and has zero button so you check relative angles like pinion to drive line. It is magnetic on side and bottom. So far I like it. Woodcraft has them for about $40.

Absolutely the best for driveline positioning, setups on a mill, etc. Well worth the $$.

"Absolutely the best for driveline positioning, setups on a mill, etc."

How is it any diffrerent from the "Smart Tool" or the Sears one? Where can you get one and how much does it cost?

Checked on the price Rick....It was $179 I believe....For as little use as I'd get out of it, the price is too much.
