View Full Version : Hood Alingment
Well the search is over and I finally bought my 55:D One question I have is that every car I looked at (including the one I bought) the hood doesn't line up very well near the hinges. Any tips on getting the hood right on the 55's?

What is off? Margins? height? Can you post a pic?
I will take delivery of my 55 later this week. I will post some detailed pics once the deal is final and I take the keys. Gaps are off about 1/4 inch side to side and the driver side near the hood hinge sticks up about 1/2 higher than the passenger side which sits flush with the fender. Pics to follow....

Good on the pic's. No point in muddying the water until we can see what the concern is. Pic's worth a 1,000 words.

Side to side fit can be altered at the hinge to hood bolts, at the hinge to firewall bolts. The lift you are experiencing on one corner can be addressed by shimming the hinge at the firewall. Try using fender shims between the hinge and firewall at the top bolt. Often that will drop the hood down.
The last adjustment is at the latch, for final centering of the hood between the fenders. There is designed movement in the body mounted latch.
It's a trial and error process, but with patience you can get it right.
