I posted this at Danchuk's Garage/Tech area and there was no help there, so I thought maybe there was an answer here, Thank You for any info.

After countless emails and no responce I thought I would post here to see if I can get some help, this all started in Oct or Nov

I bought these new spring backs from you and just got them in,I talked to Frank which he said he has to talk to Gene which he said he has to talk to Frank plus the people that make the parts for them, over at your place about the problem I have with the mounting of them

In the first photo you will see what the new spring looks like and the second photo will be the old spring,as you can see I cant mount the springs the way they are and need your help

also you can see that on one corner of the old spring there are 2 mounting spring parts and the new one only has the one,as you can also see the new part is not made like the old part and can not be mounted the way it is

more photo's of the other mounting areas

I'm not sure but I think I can reuse the old mounting parts and transfer them to the new spring backs, that would mean I have to take it apart at the clips, once you take the clips apart they are pretty much unusable, please let me know,Thank you for your time

Blackie, welcome to Trifive.

They simply sent you the wrong part. You can ,as you say, reuse the parts necessary. The metal clips that hold them together are reusable. I pulled several springs from a 4 door seat to repair mine and did just that. Open the wrap as little as you can get by with and when you go to reinstall them just squeeze them closed again with pliers.

I ordered the ones for 57, I gave the number that they sent me to Gene and he said those are the ones, if I have to send these back to get the right ones then thats what I'll do, I would guess they saw the pics I sent them or they don't look at my emails ???

One problem I have if I reuse my old mounting springs is that one is broken :(

If these are wrong, what are the right ones, who would I have to talk to over there ?

I did manage to find the lined clips and the tool to install them but I don't feel that since I ordered that parts I need I should not have to rebuild the part I bought :(

Thanks

Well unfortunenately I don't think Danchuk does reply to e-mails. I would try to talk to someone there via phone and maybe follow up with returning the springs along with a print out of the photos of the springs clearly marked as to what the differences are. I know that seems like a joke having to, but I always assume the counter person knows less than I do.

Blackie my experience with the repo springs is "THEY DON`T FIT". That being said you will have to improvise and that`s about all you can do. I was doing a 68 Camaro for a customer a few years back and he bought all new springs and none of them even came close to being right. I ended up reworking all of them. Terry.
