View Full Version : I really need advice with my crossmember problem (pics included)

On my '59 truck, I'm using a frame-mounted power booster and trans crossmember (both from CPP). The crossmember bracket on both sides of the frame are obviously fixed and non-negotiable. One friend suggested I re-mount the booster further back and use a longer pushrod. I don't know if that will work either because the frame crossmember is behind the booster and can't move far enough back to clear the crossmember bracket. I'm not real interested in that route either now that the cab is mounted.

Is that the crossmember mount directly behind the booster in the second picture? If so, can you move the booster and M/C forward with a shorter rod, take the proportioning valve off the M/C and move it to another location.Then will the crossmember go under the M/C?

Don, I just ended up sectioning the crossmember. Took me ALL day but now it all fits.

Jemo, Would it be possible to get a couple of photos of your crossmember section? I have the very same problem with my LS1-L60E powered 55 GMC. I have attempted a couple of jury rigged transmount extensions but I always ending up thinking they look less than adorable. I may still have to relocate the 8"booster and master if for no other reason than I have very little room to route the exhaust--the trans mount just adds to the problems. But I'm loving every minute.

all those reasons are why i'm putting the brake master on the firewall......
With a CPP kit.......
I hope IT fits.......
