Two or 4 barrel carb? Two barrel routing. .... http://www.trifive.com/garage/57%20Chevy%20Assembly%20Manual/5-3.gif ...... Four barrel is same as non-convertible. ....http://www.trifive.com/garage/57%20Chevy%20Assembly%20Manual/410-7.gif

In addition to Don's remarks....On single four barrel with dual exhaust cars, the fuel line ran outside the frame and was 5/16" On dual four and FI cars the fuel line was 3/8" and ran outside the frame....All others were 5/16" and ran inside the frame.....Also, the brake lines were run along side the fuel lines.

So have I understand it right - on 2 barrel both fuel and braklines goes inside frame even if I have dual exhaust?

I'm not sure their reasoning was too sound , but the GM Engineers decided to put some of their products' fuel-lines on the outside of the frame . In modern times , SAFETY became more of an issue , and today's Engineers make their decisions based on real-life crash situations , and the auto companies' being more liability-conscious , wouldn't think of running a fuel-line anywhere it could get crushed and split open in a crash . Just my humble opinion , but ALL fuel-lines should be INSIDE a frame structure to protect them in case of a crash . Safety gets left out when doing a full restore , but those babies are trailer-queens for the most part , and aren't exposed to that much risk . It's the same thing when owners insist on keeping their single-acting master cylinders ; it's just not safe to maintain the status quo . Let's be safe.......Bob.

Two barrel cars did not have dual exhaust. ....... http://www.trifive.com/garage/57%20Chevy%20Assembly%20Manual/8-1.gif The fuel and brake lines went through the exhaust pipe hole in the x-member on convertibles.

Ok, understand, but I love to have dual exhaust so where should I go :)

Get the lines that go outside the frame (4 barrel). If you have duals on a 2 barrel, it's not completely stock anyway. You don't have much leaway to keep the lines away from the right side exhaust because of the x-member.

Understand Don - Mybee I can isolate the exhaust in the hole where it is near the line?
