Since the installation manual leaves a little to be desired and each Ford 9" application is a little different, here are some notes to help anyone installing the CPP 12" big brake kit on their Ford 9" rear end.
My Ford 9" had the Ford 11" Explorer disc brakes with tapered roller bearing with oil seal on the outside.
The first image shows the ring that the instructions call the "bearing retainer". It is NOT the outer bracket, that is the axle retainer. This ring is the one that the instruction say to remove allowing that caliper bracket to sit flush against the axle housing.
The second image is shows the caliper bracket in place.
I will post some completed photos when I am finished.
