I believe you are in the wrong thread about the hinges. It looks like the thread you posted in was deleted by the originator of it. So no rights were not violated.

The thread you posted in was started by "docharley". This thread was started by "had a few tri fives".

If you would read you would see it wasn`t "removed", but the whole thread was deleted by the person that started that thread.

I had mine installed about two months ago. Had problems with the installation and EMS communicated with my restorers who seemed to have got them right although the rear part of the hood(next to the cowl) was indeed raised about 1/2". whenever you wanted to press it down, it would come up again. Now, a week ago, the hood would not hold up. I had to use a broom stick to keep the hood open. The car is with my restorers trying to fix the problem, but I have given up on these hinges and told my restorers to install back the stock hinges. The scarry thing is that I also bought hinges for my 64 Impala SS that is still under restoration. I fear that I may come across the same problem. These hinges are not cheap and one gets afeeling of disappointment about the quality.

chevman57 is correct, I removed the thread. The reason is I did not think it was fair for me to say anything negative about EMS hinges since I never owned a pair. I can say the reason I did not buy from them was all the negative information I gathered from people who do own their hinges.

BTW, the BS hinges I bought are awesome!!!!!

I only hope that others take note of this thread and steer well clear of this product. Thanks for the heads up :congrats::flag6:

A real shame that being politically correct gets in the way of real information that might help someone from spending a bunch of money and being very disappointed.

How does this apply to this post Rick, seems people are saying what they feel here?

There has been plenty of criticism of their hinges on here many times, it has kept many of us from wasting our money on an idea that doesn't work well. I have never owned them myself but the guys on here and at shows have convinced me they are only for show and don't function well overall for a driver car.

Who was being politically correct? The original poster deleted the thread on his own accord.

I have learned how to use the album and have them there if anyone wants to see for themselves. I think that any vendor that sells any part for tri fives should stand behind their product,we spend big money for it and get crap.

Rick_L, Like I said I do not own EMS hinges and felt out of place making negative comments about a part I never owned so I do not see what politics has to do with it. I just felt it was the right thing to do. I apologize If I caused any trouble, for some reason it seems to follow me a lot lately.

No I'm probably the one looking for trouble in most eyes, especially with my choice of words. By politically correct, what I mean is sparing negative words for someone or something, especially if fact. In this case the supplier. I.e., don't hurt their feelings or disparage their reputation.

My point is why protect the supplier of dubious goods and hide this information from someone who might want this information and use it to make an intelligent choice or at least ask more questions? The wrong party is being helped.

It would be different if there were errors in what you or someone else said. I don't see anyone pointing out any errors.

I would like to say that I purchased a set of these hinges for my 55 before I be came a member on here and read this thread.

As they cost me 750 for the polished ones land in Australia I was not just going to dump them. I got them to fit with the hood flat. But the hood would only open half way which pissed me off, What I did was take one end off the ram and added a bit to it(about10mm) tig welded it and retap. Now I can say that the hood opens fully and closes right. Now I am happy.:) I'll will take some pics and post them here if anyone has purchased a set and don't know what to do with them

I also purchased EMS hinges and after trying to fix them for 6 months with no success, I sold them for alot less then I paid. I then purchased Billet Spec. hinges and they are a super product! They are costly but if you want a good product thats the way to go.

After trying the EMS updated mounts that they shipped me when my hood wouldn't close correctly, I returned mine to EMS and got a credit from them since my complaints about the fit were documented. They were real good about taking them back when I stayed in touch with them regarding the fit.

I then saw all the good feedback on the Billet Specialties hinges and ordered a set on Wednesday of this week. They were on my doorstep Friday and they look real nice. Should fit like a glove when I'm ready to bolt the hood back on. :congrats:
