Awesome transmission. Shifts like butter.
In addition to the instructions shown in the previous post, Tremec does make a kit to move the top stick shifter to the middle position. I actually have the 3550 model (TKO predecessor), but the result would be the same me thinks.
I recommend that kit for 5-6-7's if you still have a bench front seat. It will put the shifter in the perfect position to be able to move the seat its full travel.
I bought the middle position kit after some trial and error fitting. I modified and welded a piece onto the shifter handle so I could bolt on a Hurst handle.

I also bought new transmission hump sheet metal and made an inspection cover about 12" square (cut a big hole in the original hump) and then made the new hole for the shifter in that. This was how I fixed the old hole for the removed T-10 Hurst shifter. I also had a piece of leather sewn onto the carpet where the old hole was instead of buying new carpet.
Just my 2 cents and ideas.
Bottom line: I think the transmission is worth every penny.
