there are different parts that may be considered the engine compartment, generally speaking the cowl will be body color, the underside of hood black, inner fenders black, radiator bracket etc. black.do a search on this site and you should be able to find the "exact" black paint used on the different underhood parts... that's if you are going for a 100% stock going to be judged resto....
Well should i paint it all body color? My only concern with doing that is that if i am working on it the body color will show everything. Like grease and such
here is a picture of a 57 i had. it's all original. ................ don't worry about dirt or anything getting on it. i'm sure you will wipe it down like i do. :tu
:sign0020::sign0020: At the end of the day it is all about getting out there and really enjoying it. Like they say "Stone chips are the best trophies."
My original body color was black lacquer. Most of the underhood areas were a semi gloss black. Everything I've read pointed me to SG Black on the firewall, inner fenders etc. The cowl on my car will by body color black. I have Eastwood underhood sg black on the front end sheet metal parts that are done. Looks very good. Hope this help.
If I am wrong I hope to be corrected.
