Default best price for spring pocket kit?

Just wondering who has the best price for the rear leaf spring pocket kit. I looked thru a couple catalogs and that really seems high 260+- for a couple pieces of sheet metal and few shackle bars. I'm I being unreasonable
Thanks

Not a lot cheaper but a little. What is your time worth if you built it yourself? Terry

all Bob. Do a search here and see if someone might have a set of drawings and build your own.

I had a very detailed drawing sent to me via Chevy Talk that I'd be happy to send. I work with a machine shop and they built me the complete set. I did some horse trading fot for the labor. Everything came out great, but I have yet to install it. They did say that it would have cost me $200. There is a lot of work to build them if the shop is not set up with the proper jigs, etc.

I'm just curious, has anyone tried to install the pocket kit with the body on the frame? Surely it's been done before, but what a tasks! I picked up an extra frame for this very reason - to install an updated suspension without losing the use of my '55 - then make the swap. I gotta say, I have no idea how a guy can cut all the original brackets etc off with the body on the frame; then have to weld the new parts on it? I'm mechanically inclined, but without a lift, that seems like a tough task.

I did it that way, not hard at all on a two post lift and a plasma cutter.

some of you guys are just spoiled
i did it in my driveway with a floor jack, a pair of GOOD jack stands, a cutting torch, an arc welder, some rear shackle mounts from a MOPAR, and two rear axle mounts from Moroso. took me, buy myself, about 4 hours. from driving the car to driving the car.
I guess if it ain't pre-engineered and don't bolt on it ain't no good..........(just one of my pet peeves).
oh yeah, and that was 20 years ago.........before everything became credit card ready.
