http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/home.jsp?section...

Check it out. Looks good except for the big black box on the passenger side inner fender. $9k+ for the motor?

Couple You tube videos too.

Here is what Jamie Moyer said in the email from GMPP...

FUEL: E-ROD—why, and what does it mean to hot rodders? Dr. Jamie: The answer to this question will vary depending on where that hot rodder lives, what kind of car he has, and what his goals are. If you want to build a brand-new Cobra kit car and register it in California, the E-ROD line of engines allow you to put a brand-new, high-performance GM engine into your car and legally register it. Until our engineers developed this engine package (and the proprietary software that ties these systems all together), there was virtually no way to do this. We also feel that a large number of enthusiasts are looking for an ultra-modern powertrain that allows them to build a car with everything that a new high-powered GM car has—power, fuel-efficiency, reliability, and yes, low emissions. Choosing the right engine for your project car is a very personal decision.FUEL: What can you share with us about the E-ROD unveiling at this year's SEMA show?Dr. Jamie: You'll see a very special '55 Chevy unveiled at SEMA dubbed the "E-ROD '55 Chevy." It's our interpretation of what the modern enthusiast will do with this new E-ROD technology. What has been great about this project '55 is that GM Performance Parts has once again tapped into the brilliance of our GM vehicle designers, and Dave Ross has blessed this car with a skilled eye. Of course, we also worked with our teammates at GM Performance Division—the best high-performance vehicle builders on the face of the planet. Mike Copeland headed up the team that put the car together. His leadership has provided us with a stunner. I can't wait to take the wraps off this thing at SEMA!FUEL: When will the engine be available? What's the cost?Dr. Jamie: This is perhaps the best part of the story. You'll be able to get an E-ROD LS3 package—in all its 430-horse glory—on the opening day of SEMA November 3. And you'll be able to get this entire package from any GM dealer for an MSRP of $9,375.

The 5.3-liter E-ROD should be out in 30 days. Looking ahead to early next year, we'll be adding the LS7 (505-horse) and the ridiculously powerful LSA (556-horse) to the portfolio.
FUEL: How does E-ROD LS3 perform? Any sacrifice in power? Dr. Jamie: The E-ROD LS3 is a production engine straight out of the Camaro SS or base Corvette. It's a 430-horse monster that offers an EPA-estimated 25 MPG in the Vette. Tons of torque and a red line north of 6500 rpm makes this one of my favorite engines that we have in the lineup right now. So, no, there is no sacrifice in horsepower to meet emissions. Remember, all E-ROD engines come from a production GM vehicle, and they have been designed from the beginning to be emissions-compliant. FUEL: What comes with the E-ROD LS3 crate engine package and how easy is installation?Dr. Jamie: Here's what you get with an E-ROD:Brand-new, production-line built EFI engineGMPP engine wiring harness and calibrated ECMGMPP accelerator pedal for the engine's electronic throttle bodyA pair of system-calibrated catalytic convertersA pair of exhaust manifolds matching the supplied catsMass airflow sensor and mounting hardwareFront- and rear-mounting oxygen sensors and mounting bossesVapor recovery canisterDry air filter elementComplete instruction manualAs for installation, well, this isn't a cold-air kit. But, if you've made the decision to build a car, then you (or your speed shop of choice) can handle this. Part of what makes an LS engine so great for performance enthusiasts is that they are lightweight and rather compact. That makes them much easier than, say, a modular Ford to fit into tight spaces like a '32 Ford or Cobra kit car.

All E-ROD engines will come with a very complete installation manual that has been designed by our engineers to answer all questions about the kit, the parts in the kit, and the additional parts (like fuel tank and fuel system) that are specific to your car.

I know I only have late 20th century computing equipment, but the GMPP website locks my computer up.

trifive doesn't, chevytalk doesn't, none of the sponsors and suppliers lock my computer up. Ebay doesn't either.

I also noticed that when I was shopping for trucks last summer that the GM and Ford websites were slow as can be (on a good T1 line). Does their way of cutting costs include having IT about like my personal stuff?

What's up with all that?

C57Heaven's quote has about 50 red Xs in it for me. Again, what's up?

???? That link is from the email GMPP sent me today.
Perhaps they're tracking how many visitors to their sight. I'm clueless, that's way I pay for virus protection too.
