Hi, my names sean and I'm 17 years old. I just started to restore my first car. it's a 57 belair. In the repair manual, it says to use a certin kind of break fluid. Seeing how that kind isn't made anymore, what should I use as a replacment.

You picked a great car for your first project

As far as the brake fluid goes, you should be fine with Dot3 or Dot4, if it hasn't already I would bleed the old fluid out first and start fresh.

The "DOT 3" brake fluid, which is the most common kind that you can buy at any auto supply, is the same fluild that's referred to in the shop manual.

It's kind of odd that I've never seen this question on these boards previously, because it's an appropriate one.

a friend of mine told me he uses the silicone brake fluid, he told me it works great with the original drums, and dont worry sean your not the only young one here im 21 ive had my 56 for about 6 years, so welcome to the tri5 community, post some pics of your 57 sure would love to see it...
