Default Scratch protection

When working with painted, powder coated, or chromed parts what do you use to protect that from getting an accidental scratch or chip during times like assembly and test fitting?

I've used blue and green painters tape plenty but thought there might be some products that I'm not aware of.

There is a clear protective film available to protect the bonnet from driving chips instead of putting a car bra on.

I suspect somebody like 3M may carry it.

You are talking about for assembly not a sandblast protective film like on the hood? Mike

Painters blue tape has always worked for me as well. I can't think of anything better, but I'm always open to new idea's.

Bubble wrap works if you don't stand and pop all of it. I just took my starter off to paint it. Do install I have to set it in from the top then lift it up from the underside because of exhaust and cooling lines. Wraped it in bubbles and no scratches. But I use tape 99% of the time. Todd
