How do I get the ignition switch cylinder out of my 57??

Notice a small hole in the bezel to the right of the key slot. Put the key in, place the cylinder in the lock position, put a paper clip in the little hole, push in and while holding in on the paper clip, turn the key on farther to the left/lock position. The cylinder will go further than normal and pop out.

OK now I am in dumb land, how do I get the nut out of the switch to remove it from the dash?

You will have to pop the outer bezel off to get to the nut, which has slots on it to remove it. The bezel has some saw tooth looking strip around the inside of the bezel.
