I remember one year close to halloween, we made a dummy out of old clothes and a stocking cap. We only made the top half, but it was fitted with gloves etc for hands. We slammed the dummy into the trunk of my 57 so the top half of it was hanging out the back and we took off through town - after dark. We were driving down the road screaming like someone was in agony being dragged behind the car. Most everyone got a laugh and took it for what it was, but one woman in particular came stumbling out of the bar half drunk just as we were driving by. She saw it and thought it was for real and starting screaming in real honest fear for the poor dummy hanging from my trunk. She called the cops and they soon found us and pulled us over. They made us remove the dummy, and the cop laughed the whole time. Apparently she called 911 and gave the county dispatch an ear full. The cop said he didn't know who was the bigger dummy, the one behind the wheel or the one in the trunk.
