Title History Advice - Maryland Resident

Hello - I recently inquired how I could have a title history search done on my 55 when I was at the Maryland MVA - I had heard for a small fee you could get a run of how many folks owned a historic car to develop some history on the car. The MVA said no way - privacy act info which is protected. Any insights into a way to develop history on our classics?

This is of no help to you but I will post it for information only. In Ontario when a car is sold/bought it must have a sellers package with it (20$ fee +/-). It is supposed to make the buyer aware of curb sellers who buy a car and sell it from there home. But it also gives the history of the car from when it came into Ontario, got one for my 57 CA wagon. Also up here you can request a print out of all the vehicles that you have owned, including VIN #'s(another fee). Plus GM Canada has all the data on vehicle built here and for a fee they will send you the documentation on your car, etc. Good day, Henry.

I,am in Washington State, but I also am interested in finding out where my car has been and who has owned it, In Washington State they clean there computers of info like every 10 years and since I have owned my car for 23 years I am the only info they show. Please keep us posted if you find more info on your car and how you did it, Maybe it can help others.

You used to be able to do that in MD. But now with the privacy laws, that practice has been discontinued.

I'd guess they quit doing in about 10 years ago.
