You should probably warm up the car then shut it off and pull the valvecovers and set them hot..theres just too many variables in how much parts are expanding to get a accurate cold lash. The correct way to lash valves is to watch the exhaust rocker go down to its bottom travel..as soon as it moves and starts to comeback up ..set the lash for the intake of that cylinder..same for exhaust..intake bottom of travel ..starts to move back up..set the exhaust lash for that cylinder. your always setting the lash on the lobe base circle..this is known as the EO-IC procedure.TDC is a hit and miss method depending on camshaft overlap. Does your cam card say 18 thou hot..that seems tight for a solid lifter...usually there around 22 thou. if you open the lash a couple of thou you increase bottom end power..tighting it increases top high rpm power.

5619...I believe there's a little error in your thinking....I don't have the procedures available to me, because I'm not at home....However, when a cyl is at a TDC, the intake and exhaust valves are then set on a different cylinder....Maybe someone will chime in....In the meantime, I'll do some research online.

I'm running the comp cam 256 x-treme energy --- the card did say 18 thou -- that did sound tight to me also going from my 30/30 I used to run --- tdc on the power stroke I thought was the way to do it -- I'll try the other way too
