Default 57 283 carter 4BC air cleaner

I've been putting together a 57 Belair 2dr ht for a guy, and it is getting really close to being done. I have even put a few miles on it going up and down the road. I heard a few years ago of company that made an air cleaner assembly that looks like the oil bath, but it uses a paper element. I can not remember the company name. Does any one know of any place to get one of these, or was it just a myth? if it is myth, where would I be able to come up with a new air cleaner for this engine? Also, if we can find the original lookalike, will there be any fitting issues with the Vintage Air air conditioning compressor? Any info appreciated !!!!

You can find an original power pack air cleaner on ebay..for about $225-$350. You can install a paper element instead of the original oil bath element, Danchuck has these filters.

I dont know if they make repo breathers or not. About 12 years ago I remember reading that They were going to make them from fiberglass, with paper element. I cant say I ever saw one though. I use a NAPA filter in mine.I havent had any problem with VA set up. You can click on my garage and I have a pic of it

Well, I have called Danchuk and they have said Good Luck. Ebay or Hemmings. I asked about the fiberglass reproductions, and they said that they were junk. Something needs to happen, or we will have to just pull the Carter off and change it to either a Rochester or Holley ..... Time is running out for us !
