Hey Charlie . I used the truck spindles . they were on the axle already , shouldnt be to hard to find them , actually , i think speedway sells them ,. and yes i used thier kingpins and disc brake kit.

Thanks Mac, I think Bob and I are going to take a drive after work tomorrow and take a look at the axle. The only thing that I can think of that could be buggered up on the axle would be if it was bent, cracked, or maybe the bushings for the kingpin were screwed up somehow. Not sure I'd be able to spot a subtle problem with the bushings but the other things should be obvious. Seem right to you?

Yea ,,I have a 55 panel and a couple trucks (56 & 57) and they are the same.
I think that the frames are even the same. My question is ,,why are you going to a truck axle,,if you don't mind me asking ?-Keith |

Hi Kieth,
I'm building a gasser and want the straight axle thing . I know the axle on the earlier model trucks are closer to the original 55' width but I like the wider stance with the skinny tire up front. |

I'm sorry,,,I thought you were talking about the REAR axle. Yea,,I know what you are looking for. That's the same thing that I want to do with my 56. I like the look of the straight ,tube axles but I like the stance of a drop axle (truck axle) better. It makes the car sit a little lower. Don't want to be 'nose-bleed' high.he-he-Keith
